The Begam Hazrat Scholarship Scheme has been launched in collaboration with the Maulana Azad Education Foundation, Ministry of Minority Affairs. The Maulana Azad Education Foundation functions as a nodal department.

Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarshipis a special scholarship scheme launched for girls belonging to the notified category (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Parsi) minority communities. Under this Scholarship scheme, the Ministry of Minority offers 5000 rupees till class 9, 6000 students to class 10 and class XII to class XII.

It has been started with the aim of providing education in aid to the meritorious girl students mainly from the minority class. This scholarship will provide scholarships to all students who cannot advance their education without financial assistance. Applications for this scholarship have been started from July 15, 2020, for which the last date of application has been set as October 31, 2020.

Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship 2020

The Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship Scheme is known as the Maulana Azad National Scholarship. The scheme was launched on 3 May 2003 by former late Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee in collaboration with the Ministry of Appellate Affairs.

Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship Scheme was inaugurated during a National Conference on Educational and Economic Development of Minorities held at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi. This scheme has been started mainly with the objective of providing scholarships to the meritorious students of the minority class.

Objective of Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship

The main objective of Maulana Azad Education Foundation is to promote the girl students of minority communities for education up to the economically weaker class IX and XII. Through these scholarships, financial assistance will be given to them and work of identification will be done. The main objective of this scholarship scheme is to help the girl students who are not able to pay school / college fee, purchase of course books, purchase of stationary / equipment required for the course and boarding / lodging fee.

 

Feature of Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship

• Meritorious students of minority class will be benefited from this scholarship scheme.
• Scholarship amounts will be provided to all girl students through direct bank transfer.
• This scholarship will be given solely for indigenous education.
• It is a fully central government-funded scholarship scheme.
• Only girls belonging to six notified minority communities ie Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Parsi are eligible.

 

Terms and conditions of Begum Hazrat Mahal National scholarship

To avail the Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship, you have to fulfill the following terms and conditions –

• The scholarship amount will be distributed on the basis of minority population in each state and union territory based on the data of 2011 census.
• Scholarship will not be resumed under any circumstances after the date of application and it is removed.
• In case of incorrect information given by the student, his application will be canceled and the application fee will be returned.
• In case of educational gaps, the scholarship will be discontinued. Officers may change any rules from time to time.
• In this scheme, preference will be given on the basis of income group. However students from higher income group can also avail.
• In the event of a student taking advantage of any other scheme of the Central or State Government, he will not be given the benefit of Begum Hazrat Mahal.

Eligibility Criteria

You will have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for applying for this scholarship scheme.

• Only applicants from minority communities like Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain and Zoroastrian are eligible to apply.
• The benefit of this scholarship can be availed only by girls. Along with this, it is compulsory to be a student of class 9th to 12th.
• The year income of the girl’s family should not exceed Rs 2 lakh.
• Through this scholarship scheme, study can be done by staying indigenously only.
• Only one student from any minority family will have the right to take advantage of this scholarship scheme.

• First, you need to rush to the Official Website of the Maulana Azad Education Foundation
• On the homepage of the website, you have to click on the “Registration” button.
• The new General Instructions page will open in front of you. Read all the instructions and click on the Proceed button.
• After this, the Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship online application form will open in front of you.
• In this application form, you have to enter all the details asked and upload all the documents in the designated place.
• After checking all the details entered by you, click on the “SUBMIT” button.

• On the homepage of the website, you have to click on the “Application Status” option in the menu.
• A new page will open in front of you. Here you have to choose the following details.

• After selecting all these details, fill the CAPTCHA code and click on the “View Application Status” button.

Now the status of scholarship application will appear on your computer and mobile screen.

Points to Remember

• Applicants are not required to send physical / hard copy by any type of post or MAEF.
• All documents should be uploaded in Hindi or English at the time of application.
• It is advised by the applicant to submit only one application form at a time, if more than one application form is submitted, it will be treated as duplicate and will be rejected.
• No application fee is required to be submitted for the application of Begum Hazrat Mahal.

Payment Mode

Under Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship Scheme, the scholarship amount will be transferred directly to the beneficiary student’s bank account through DBT. Demand for cash payment by beneficiary, transfer of funds to parent’s account, payment by check DD and other requests will not be accepted under any circumstances.

Rules For Scholarship Cancellation

Here are some circumstances in which the scholarship will be discontinued –

• If there is any educational difference in the study due to any reason, the scholarship will be discontinued and the scholarship amount awarded will not be given to the beneficiary.
• In the event of not applying for the scholarship in time, the claim of the applicant for the renewal of the scholarship will be rejected.
• The scholarship will be canceled and the scholarship amount will be recovered if the applicant receives the scholarship on the basis of wrong information.

About National Scholarship Scheme

Another scholarship has also been announced by the Central Government for the minority class. It has been named the National Scholarship Scheme. Applications for pre matriculation and post matric scholarship are accepted every year through the National Scholarship Scheme (NSP) portal.
